For The Love of Cake

Theresa latest birthday cake. It gave me a huge amount of grief! The fondant was very soft and difficult to work with. I had no plan as this was a last minute after being so sick. Not fun to do a cake under pressure.

Aloo's cake. I love this cake. And being fruit cake it did not give me hassles. When designing a cake I often create a cake "in their image" how I see them. Butterflys and pearls with a ballet feel
Mels birthday cake, went very well although nothing like my original design as it was for the same day as Zaks cake, so the design got simpler and simpler. I asked Mel her favorite colors and she said black and with with a touch of electric green. Well the electric green went out the the first design that I never followed in the end.
Theresa's birthday cake from 2009. Its very Theresa. Theresa is turquoise and flowers for me.
This was just an experimental favour. I tried working with chocolate. Mmmmm well I need a lot more work!!!
Ha ha ha I'm sure you will remember the disaster with this one! Sweet pops could not understand why someone would leave a hat in the oven! Crash!!! Start again with time a ticking!!!
I loved doing this one! Sculpting is awesome! The horns were difficult to shape and position as they were very heavy!
I LOVED this cake so much I was happy to let him sit till he rotted! he really as better in real life. Keren challenged me as she did not want fondant on her cake so I had to make a marshmallow fondant which just behaves differently.
I hated this cake. I did it for some one at Theresa's work. I was very excited went she said it was a girl I had visions of really cute girl cakes. Then she said she wanted the cake to match the invite on a laser quest theme!!!! Blaaa
Sylvias going away cake. Difficult!!! It never stayed as 3 tiers as the bottom one started to take strain and i panicked that it would collapse if front of every one so I make it 2 tiers!
Lindas 70th my first attempt at getting butter icing totally smooth. Hard work. This is one on Nana's favorites
Just practicing my stacking as a favor for a friend
Ivans cake. More grief! My design never fitted the proportions of this cake but still it work out ok just..
For Jean's 5oth wedding anniversary. I was very very disappointed with this cake for all the work i put in. It taught me loads.... PLAN PLAN PLAN BE ORGANIZED it was better in real life but still I was disappointed.

Noddy Cake

I really loved making this for birthday. Such an awesome challenge!

Darling Flowers

Saturday after finishing Theresa's cake and feeding ALL the animals we made it out of here at 11:30 to go and look for flowers. We headed for darling, the flowers were disappointing but we stopped at Evita's se Peron, what a treat, we had a lovely lunch and have vowed to come up for a show. The place just oozes character.

All this art is in "Boerassic Park". The elephant and buffalo are carved from wood.

The place is dripping in Evita art

A view to table mountain we don't see very often

Zander was so desperate to swim in the sea but it was wild with huge swell and kurt cant swim! So he had to make do getting wet in the harbor.

Isis

Just when I thought I could not handle any more sickness poor Isis got Giardia! Heck do I feel sorry for my self! This place is like a war zone!!!! Giardia is contagious to humans and other pets!!!! Obviously I did not know this when the pick above was taken!! Sweet Zander is cuddling poor baby dog!

Shame look at that face! Its is really hard for everyone here, and Isis can not understand why she is being kept locked up and cries so pitifully. But all that aside she is a fantastic puppy and very much loved by all.

Whale of a time!

Nana and I decided that, that was it we could not stay cooped up in the house any more we had to get out over the weekend. Flowers? Whales? In the end the weather was to unpredictable for flowers, so we'd thought we'd take a drive towards Cape Point. Sat didn't go to plan as Isis got sick... Sunday Nana got up packed her bags very excitedly but.... Isis was still sick and need the vet. Finally at midday we escaped. On boys drive we saw loads of whales. I then thought we'd try the harbor. Mmmmm half of CT had the same idea!!! I thought we'd never get out the harbor let alone find a park... Well we eventually found a park. We tried Harbor house and I am greatful (with hindsight) we never got a table. We were lucky to get a great spot at polana. Nana thought she had landed in heaven, first mojito, fresh air beautiful views and a whale right in front on the restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes that white smudge in the water is a whale! It was funny as we had not been there long when Nana and Zander trotted off to the bathroom and no sooner than they had left than a whale appeared and swam right along the harbor wall and around the rocks in front of polana. I honestly thought the whale would be gone by the time they arrived back but he was very obliging and stopped about 50m off the rocks right in front of us and stayed for ages.
Oops i choose the wrong pic! Aah u get the idea anyway.
Zander could not resist and eventually came up with a good reason as to why he should climb out the window onto the rocks... Rubbish

You can imagine Zanders delight when he got to feed the seals! Wow talk about fat over feed seals.

The harbor has such an amazing atmosphere I could have sat all day watching and taking picks of all the characters.
